A grotesque bird with a wingspan wider than a man is tall. The vulture matriarch circles high above the desert thermals, her shadow drifting across the sand like a dark omen. Unlike her smaller kin who content themselves with carrion, the matriarch has developed a taste for the living — or perhaps she's simply learned that making things dead first is more efficient. Her feathers are matted with the residue of a thousand rotting meals, and the stench alone is enough to make the hardiest stomachs rebel.
